Finding God’s Path for your Life

Part 1

Have you ever been lost? I mean literally lost, without a map or GPS? If you have, you know what a terrible feeling it is, not knowing which way to turn to get where you want to go.

I remember how excited I was when I got my first GPS device. I had traveled for years with the Map Quest print outs and always  struggled to drive and read the directions at the same time.  You know what I mean, having a hard time finding where I needed to be. The GPS device was the greatest invention ever for me!

On a trip to Raleigh, NC, I was to meet the sales rep I was working with at the exact address she had given me. So, I programmed in the GPS and away I went. When I arrived at the destination, as proclaimed by the lady on the GPS, I was at an abandoned warehouse building in the middle of nowhere. But the road names matched the address the rep had given me! However, there was no office and no sales rep.

About that time the rep called me– thank goodness for cell phones- and asked where I was, it was almost time for our appointment. “I am at the exact address you gave me, but I don’t see you” I said. She could hear the GPS lady saying “you have arrived at your destination on the right” but I was nowhere in sight! She started telling me what to look for – all the while the GPS was continuing to yell at me. I am sure you can imagine my frustration! The rep finally said in frustration,”just turn that thing off and listen to me – I will tell you how to get here!”WOW, just turn that noise off and I will tell you where to find me! I was only a few blocks away and we made the appointment on time, but with such aggravation that I was not much help in the presentation.

Have you ever experience such frustration? I am so much like the GPS commercial when the GPS says “turn right” and I drive into a building. But, you know, it isn’t just in seeking a specific physical location that we can get lost or “drive into something that stops us cold.” In the course of life, have you ever felt that you were “off course” not sure which direction to go? Or, has something happened, beyond your control, that sets your head spinning so you don’t know the right direction?

After my frustrating experience with the GPS, I thought, how could I have avoided that frustration? What did I do wrong? I followed the directions given by the GPS, but I arrived at the wrong place!

Maybe you are feeling that way too.  Do you look around you and see that you thought you were following directions, but somehow ended up in the wrong place? A place of loneliness, emptiness or just feeling that you are not accomplishing what you thought you would in life?

Well, you are not alone.  Many people are in the same place and seeking guidance and direction. In next weeks Blog, we will discuss how to “turn off all the background noise” and start finding the right direction for you.

Stay tuned!

Christian Life Coaching – Following God’s Call in a New and Exciting Direction

By Bonnie Weiss, Director of Center for Christian Coaching

The coaching industry is one of the fastest growing professions in 2016. Just like personal training became popular in the last decade, life coaching has already become the next big trend.Coaching is the number one home based profession, and it’s the number two growth industry right behind IT (Information Technology), says Start-Ups Magazine. CNN Host, Ali Velshi, recently featured the career of coaching on their top ten list for growing professions for the next five years. The story mentioned that there is increasing demand for coaches in these tough economic times as people need even more support.

We live in a fallen world and that brings desperation and unhappiness. People everywhere are seeking meaning and purpose in life and they are turning to Christian Life Coaches for support and help to find what is missing in their lives. People are also seeking to find emotional healing and a deeper connection to God after going through transitions like, being unemployed, mid life crisis, divorce, empty nest and many other types of difficult situations.

What is Coaching?

Life Coaches are dedicated to helping individuals make significant changes in their personal and spiritual lives, as well as in their career or business. Coaches usually work with clients for 3 to 12 months and can focus their practice on a client’s life in general, or they can choose a niche to focus on, such as life transitions, career, relationships, life purpose, health, executive coaching or sales coaching. Life coaching is very concrete, tangible, and results oriented. The client establishes goals, and works toward them in a very tangible way. This makes coaching fulfilling for both the client and the coach as positive results occur on a weekly basis.

The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

For many, coaching is a life-changing experience that dramatically improves their outlook on work and life cawhile improving leadership skills. Coaching helps people tap into their potential, unlocking sources of creativity and productivity.

What is a Christian Coach?

A Christian Coach will do the same things a life coach does. You will set goals, look at how the client wants to change or improve areas of their life, ask questions, work through blocks and obstacles, develop a plan and hold the client accountable. You will as a Christian Coach bring a Christian perspective into life coaching.

A Christian coach is a trained professional who supports individuals and groups to explore and enhance their connection to God, rely on faith more fully, and integrate Christian principles into their everyday life.

What Makes a Good Coach?

Many people have always helped people personally and/or professionally. They find that working with others is a natural and easy skill for them.Through their work in other professions and through life experience, most coaches have developed excellent skills in many areas. They want to use their talents and skills in a way that helps others–and they also want to make a good living doing it. Coaches need to be self-motivated and have the willingness to learn basic business skills. They also have to have the confidence to market their businesses in a clear and effective way.

Christian Coaching is a ministry; therefore coaches must connect with people in a personal and authentic way, led by the Holy Spirit and dedication to their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. By realizing a coach’s God given gifts and natural strengths, their unique purpose coaches can see excellent results. with their clients

Would you like to inspire others to unlock the power of God in their lives? Become a Christian Life Coach and discover how God can minister through you in a unique way.

What is Christian Coaching?

It is about empowering others to draw from the infinite resources of the Holy Spirit to live lives that are pleasing to God and that lead to fulfillment, peace and joy.

A life coach is someone who encourages, motivates and supports a person through a season of life. A “Christian life coach” is a Christian who is trained as a professional life coach and who includes Christian values and perspectives  in the coaching process.

Coaching, from the Christian perspective, is focused on what God wants for our lives instead of focusing on what we want.

A Christian Coach helps others unlock the power of God in their lives so that they can be all that God intends for them to be. The Christian Coach guides others as they  develop goals and encourages them to seek the path that God has set before them.

A Christian Coach will ask specific, well placed questions that will help the client find a more eternal purpose and move from trying to fulfill personal agendas to pursuing God’s plan and purpose.

Christian Coaching is the art and practice of enabling individuals and groups to move from where they are to where God wants   them to be. Gary Collins, Christian Coaching, NavPress

Coaching is about helping people move forward in their lives by creating positive change and setting and achieving goals. It is a process for getting unstuck, removing barriers and obstacles to advance career development, manage transition and clear conflict in relationships or personal development.

It is focused on deepening the level of relationship with God in order to live in a place of peace, contentment and joy.

Christian Coaching is a ministry, helping people find God’s vision in all of life’s challenges and living accordingly. It is based on seeking the answers from God and from His revealed will in the Bible. It is centered on a deeper relationship with the sovereign God through Jesus Christ and desiring to follow His plan and path for life. Christian Coaches guide others to find God’s will for them and thus find the fulfillment, joy and peace they seek in life. Christian Coaching helps the client think things through in a structured way, drawing attention to God’s given strengths, talents and gifts.

Christians pray for and with clients and desire for them to become a more devoted follower of Jesus Christ.

Jesus came to earth to lead people to God and to show us how to lead lives of abundant joy. Jesus came to reconcile us to God the Father so that we could have a personal relationship with him through the Holy Spirit. It could be said that coaching was at the core of how Jesus related to people.
