It drives me crazy when my husband and I go shopping for a new shirt for him and he grabs the first thing on the rack and says, “Done.” I am always shocked and exclaim, “But you didn’t even try it on! Or even look at the tag to see what it’s made out of, or see if there’s something better or, or ….” He usually replies with something like, “I know what I want and this is it.”
When Christ called His disciples, I’m sure there were people who questioned His choices. “Don’t you want to try them out first? Don’t you want to wait and see if there’s someone better?” “Don’t you want someone smarter, or braver or more talented?”
I can just picture Jesus saying to Himself, ‘I know who I want and these men are it.”
If you’ve been feeling called to become a Christian Life Coach, but haven’t moved forward, perhaps you’ve been struggling with self-doubt. Perhaps you’ve been responding to the Lord with, “But don’t you want someone more talented? Someone more attractive? Someone more intelligent??
Those are not the reasons why He is calling you to this work, His work.
Instead, God is calling you because:
You are One of a Kind – God knew exactly what the world needed at this date and time in history, and so He created YOU!
Each of us is an original. Galatians 5:26 MSG
You are Gifted – You are gifted in ways NO ONE else in the world is, and the world is diminished when you don’t share what He has generously given you.
God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well. Romans 12:6 NLT
You have been Cultivated - No one can relate to your clients the way that you can due to the unique life experiences that you’ve had.
Through our union with Christ we too have been claimed by God as his own inheritance. Before we were even born, he gave us our destiny; that we would fulfill the plan of God who always accomplishes every purpose and plan in his heart. Ephesians 1:11 TPT
Most importantly, because…You care – You wouldn’t be considering this calling if you didn’t care about making a difference in the world.
If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care … put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Philippians 2:1-4 TPT
